The greatest financial and time savings are seen with the use of wood pellets and sawdust, although users of straw and shavings benefit from the Muck Buddy's ease of use too.
How It Works:
It's Easy as 1,2,3:
Fill, Spin and Dump.
FILL
Simply wheel the Muck Buddy into the stall, open the basket and begin filling with manure and bedding. No need to sift with your sifting fork, although it doesn't hurt if you do. If you're using wood pellets, go ahead and toss in the wet and dry bedding together.
One of the benefits of the Muck Buddy is that it mixes and aerates the dry with the wet and sifts the good bedding back out, leaving a fluffy, clean stall. The pelleted bedding actually benefits from the moisture—continuing to expand and absorb as the bedding mixes together.
Once pelleted bedding reaches it's maximum absorbing capacity in the stall, the pee spots will turn a dark, soaking wet red. As with the soaking wet pee spots of sawdust, save these pee spots for after the next step, where they will be placed on top of the final manure pile in the basket.
SPIN
Finish filling the basket with manure and bedding, latch the door and give the basket a couple of good slow tumbles. All in all this process takes less time than sifting each forkful by hand—and saves your arms and wrists by eliminating the need to twist and turn the hand-sifting fork.
Depending on how diligent you are with the spinning, determines how much good bedding filters back through. After a few spins, and once you're satisfied with the amount of bedding that has fallen to the ground and is saved, if there are any excessively wet pee spots, toss them on top of the manure in the basket.
Latch the basket and wheel the Muck Buddy to the manure pile.
DUMP
You'll notice as you're wheeling through the aisles that there is never a trail of manure. This is because the solid door to the basket becomes the bottom weight and gravity becomes your friend. No matter if you're wheeling down an aisle, up a ramp, or to your truck, manure pile or spreader, the muck is not lost until you unlatch and tip the door back to release the manure in the basket. Simply turn and dump. The basket pivots effortlessly and dumps the manure out.
This is where users of wood shavings and straw see the benefits of the Muck Buddy—in it's simplicity of dumping the manure. No more lifting muck buckets or moving heavy wheel barrows. Regardless of the bedding used, simply dump the manure with ease.
PLUS!
Either empty or full, the basket can be easily removed, simply by lifting it off with the convenient side handles. The remaining cart is a terrific way to haul supplies. The cart is designed to carry not one, but TWO bales of hay, multiple bags of feed or bedding. In addition, if you're heading down the line to feed, clip your feed buckets to the rings on the side of the cart and feed your herd and toss flakes of hay all in one trip.
The Muck Buddy's patent-pending design is all about ease and balance. No need to change the way you currently muck. Just fill the basket instead of hand-sifting—the Muck Buddy does all that work for you. The cart's unique design keeps the load balanced so it's easy to push and doesn't spill. Plus, the cart can be maneuvered with one hand—it's simply that easy!
